This pledge is aimed at professors and staff members of Concordia University who are committed to reducing their flying activities as a way to promote and contribute towards a low-carbon academic working culture.

Reduce
I will reduce my academic air travel, to attain the goal of living under my annual carbon budget (2.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions by 20301)

Promote
I will promote the flying less culture at Concordia University by sharing the need to reduce academic emissions and the solutions available across the University and beyond.

Prioritize
I will prioritize travel-free meetings and events by using available technologies, while responsibly assessing the academic benefit of long-distance travel.

Support
I will support academic activities and students’ initiatives that do not require flying. Instead, local research and excursions could be encouraged where possible.
